Crews Have Los Padres Wildfire 80% Contained

More than 1,000 firefighters were gaining control of a wildfire in the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County on Friday.
The 14,988-acre blaze, named the Perkins fire, was 80% contained by early evening, according to the U.S. Forest Service.
The fire began Monday when a piece of metal blew into electrical wires and was scorching chaparral, oak woodlands, pinion pine and grasslands in rugged terrain about five miles south of New Cuyama and 45 miles east of Santa Maria.
Although the fire was expected to continue to spread to the south and east, officials said they were making good progress and expected to fully contain the blaze.
One firefighter was reported injured.
