Former DEA Agent Named Ombudsman

The Board of Supervisors Tuesday named a Drug Enforcement Administration veteran to be county ombudsman, to help resolve public complaints against the Sheriff’s Department and the Office of Public Safety.
John S. Fernandes replaces Robert Taylor, who left the post to run the Probation Department; Fernandes begins Dec. 1. Fernandes worked for the DEA around the country and in Ecuador and Peru, and was a Secret Service agent in the 1970s.
His salary will be determined at a future board meeting.
