Shuttle Atlantis Set for Launch to Space Station

The space shuttle Atlantis is scheduled for launch on an 11-day mission at 12:28 p.m. EDT today, weather permitting.
The six shuttle astronauts are scheduled to resume building the space station for the first time since the Columbia disaster 3 1/2 years ago, adding a 17 1/2 -ton truss to the orbiting outpost. The mission includes three spacewalks.
