Former Rebel Sentenced for Crimes in Kosovo

Serbia sentenced a former Kosovo Albanian rebel to 13 years in jail for murder, torture and rape committed in unrest during Serbian forces’ withdrawal from the breakaway province in June 1999.
Anton Lekaj was found guilty for his part in the killing of a Gypsy man and the torture of 10 people, including the rape of an underage girl, at the end of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s intervention to stop the war in Kosovo.
