From Times Wire Reports
Vietnam deported a San Jose democracy activist suspected of plotting against the communist government, his daughter said.
Vietnamese-born Cong Thanh Do, 47, was arrested Aug. 14 while on vacation in the city of Phan Thiet, his family said.
His daughter, Bien Dobui, said her family had talked to Do after his release. The family denies the accusations against him.
U.S. officials said they had seen no evidence to support a Communist Party newspaper report that Do was suspected of plotting to attack the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.
