at No. 11 Virginia Tech 29, Cincinnati 13: Branden Ore ran for 170 yards and a touchdown and the Hokies (4-0) overcame a sluggish first half to beat the Bearcats (1-3) at Blacksburg. Virginia Tech rallied from a 10-5 halftime deficit with 17 points in the fourth quarter to pull away from Cincinnati. Ore had 152 yards in the second half, and his one-yard touchdown run with 8:30 left put the Hokies ahead, 21-13.
at No. 18 Florida State 55, Rice 7: Antone Smith ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns and Lorenzo Booker had 115 yards and a score to lead the Seminoles (3-1) over the Owls (0-4) at Tallahassee. Florida State ran for 287 of its 500 total yards, nearly doubling the 148 yards it had in three games.
at No. 19 Clemson 52, North Carolina 7: James Davis had four of his team’s seven rushing touchdowns to lead the Tigers (3-1, 2-1) over the Tar Heels (1-3, 0-1) in a conference game at Clemson, S.C. Davis had 95 yards in 15 carries, and Clemson ended with 324 yards on the ground, the first time it cracked the 300-yard rushing mark since a 59-31 win over Duke in 2001.
at North Carolina State 17, No. 20 Boston College 15: Daniel Evans passed to John Dunlap for a 34-yard touchdown with 8.5 seconds to play to cap a stunning comeback and lead the Wolfpack (2-2, 1-1) to an upset of the Eagles (3-1, 1-1) in a conference game at Raleigh.
at Maryland 14, Florida International 10: Sam Hollenbach threw a pair of first-half touchdown passes and Christian Varner intercepted Josh Padrick’s pass at the two-yard line as time expired, preserving a victory for the Terrapins (3-1) over the Golden Panthers (0-4) at College Park, Md.
