* Momentum: The Bears lost control once Manning began to get the Colts’ offense in rhythm. With Chicago determined not to give up the big play, Indianapolis took advantage with a variety of short gains to take its first lead. Vinatieri made a 29-yard field goal to cut the Bears’ lead to 14-9 and then running back Dominic Rhodes finished a lengthy drive with a one-yard touchdown run.

* Unanswered questions: Chicago tight end Desmond Clark played a major role in the Bears’ playoff victories but did not catch a pass in the first half.... Why did Indianapolis run Addai instead of Rhodes on third down and short before Vinatieri’s missed field goal?

The Bears’ defense missed some tackles but made key stops when it needed to in order to limit Indianapolis to two field goals. But the execution of Chicago’s offense under Grossman was a joke. He had trouble holding on to the football and staying on his feet at the same time.

* Unanswered questions: How did the Bears fail to stop the Colts’ offense from dominating the line of scrimmage on a third-and-eight situation early in the quarter? Why didn’t Chicago give Grossman a hand protector used by kickers to keep his hands dry?

* Did you notice? How Rhodes broke a long run when Manning audibled to the same weakside sprint draw on first down that failed to work with Addai in the first half? How the rain seemed to come down harder throughout the third quarter?

* Momentum: It’s hard to win a Super Bowl with poor quarterback play and the Bears learned that lesson the hard way with Grossman. Two of his passes were intercepted, one by Kelvin Hayden, who returned it 56 yards for a touchdown, and one by Bob Sanders, who ended the Bears’ second drive of the quarter.

* Unanswered questions: Why did the Bears ignore Clark until late in the game? Why did Chicago fail to stick with the run when it had the Colts’ defense looking for answers before Hayden’s interception?

* Did you notice? How the Colts kicked the ball away from Hester after he returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown? How Indianapolis did not try to hide its lack of respect for Grossman with eight-man fronts even with a 12-point lead early in the quarter?
