Two men were dead and two more were in critical condition Saturday after two separate shootings.
Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were investigating, and had not ruled out gang involvement.
The first occurred at 11:45 a.m. Friday in the 7300 block of Marcelle Street in Paramount, where a gunman in a dark-colored pickup truck opened fire on two men who were walking, said Deputy Maribel Rizo. One died and the other was critically injured. Their names were not released.
The second incident occurred about 4:45 p.m. Friday in the 14600 block of Dumont Avenue in Norwalk, where a gunman got out of a gray Chevrolet Suburban and fired at two men, Rizo said. Killed in the shooting was Michael Avalos, 26, of Paramount, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office. The other man, whose name was not released, was hospitalized in critical condition.
