Information sought about body found in lake

Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman whose body was found Jan. 9 in a trash can floating in North Lake in Whittier Narrows Park.
The woman was described as being 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 6, 120 pounds with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes, said Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Schoonmaker. The woman’s race is unknown.
The trash can was seen floating in the lake as early as Dec. 24, authorities said. Anyone with information about the victim or her death should call Schoonmaker at the Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau, (323) 890-5500.
