Two men were wounded in an exchange of gunfire Wednesday night in the South Robertson area, authorities said.
Jason Lee, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department, said officers on patrol about 9:50 p.m. came upon a shooting in progress near Venice Boulevard and Cattaraugus Avenue. He said one suspect fired in the officers’ direction and police returned fire, wounding one of the two.
Lee said a second suspect fled and was being sought by police. However, he said, another man wounded by gunfire was discovered in the area. It was not clear how the second man was wounded, Lee said, but police were investigating whether it occurred in the initial round of shooting.
The two wounded men were rushed to local hospitals. Their conditions were unknown and they were not identified.
