Movie theaters to boost number of 3-D screens
- Share via
REAL D, a leading provider of digital 3-D technology, has signed licensing agreements with Regal Entertainment Group, AMC Entertainment Inc., Cinemark and several other companies to bring its technology to more movie theaters worldwide.
The agreements will nearly triple the number of REAL D screens to more than 680 in 500 locations. The roll-out is timed to coincide with the March 30 release of Burbank-based Walt Disney Co.’s animated film “Meet the Robinsons.” Beverly Hills-based REAL D licenses its 3-D projection systems and screens to theaters.
