From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board voted 11 to 0 Thursday to further study the feasibility of building tunnels under South Pasadena to connect the 710 and 210 freeways.
The preliminary engineering and technical studies will cost taxpayers $13 million and take at least 18 months to complete.
Local elected officials, including those in South Pasadena and Pasadena, overwhelmingly supported funding for the studies.
Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and county Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke were not present.
