Sacrifice privacy for safety

Re “Way too patriotic,” editorial, March 26
The FBI should be allowed to use its powers under the Patriot Act to help secure citizens. If there is abuse of this power, the act shouldn’t be revised, but the FBI should be regulated more.
The FBI is using the Patriot Act to catch criminals and obtain information to help innocent citizens, so the bureau shouldn’t be halted because it is helping U.S. citizens and keeping us from harm. God forbid that we experience another terrorist attack like 9/11 -- exactly why the Patriot Act was created.
If the FBI abuses some of its powers in regulating our safety, we can sacrifice some privacy for our lives.
And if the FBI is using this act to get into records, we shouldn’t be alarmed if we’re not doing anything illegal in the first place. I think the FBI should continue because its “abuse” is securing our nation.
