The state Legislature approved a two-year, $57.2 billion budget, ending the last state budget impasse in the nation.
The agreement reached in Madison now goes to Democratic Gov. Jim Doyle, who is expected to sign it. He praised the compromise after the vote, saying it streamlines government and holds the line on taxes.
The budget will provide health insurance to all children in the state.
