BALTIMORE -- Kyle Boller threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns and the Baltimore Ravens overcame a late charge by Kellen Clemens and the New York Jets in a 20-13 win Sunday.
Making his first NFL start, Clemens cut a 20-3 deficit to seven points in the fourth quarter and took the Jets (0-2) to the Baltimore seven-yard line before Ray Lewis intercepted a deflected pass in the end zone with 1 minute 4 seconds left.
Clemens replaced Chad Pennington, who injured his right ankle in the opener against New England. He was 19 for 37 for 260 yards -- 176 in the fourth quarter -- with two interceptions.
Boller replaced Steve McNair, who injured his groin in Baltimore’s season-opening loss to Cincinnati. It was Boller’s first start since 2005, but the 35th in a career that began in 2003. He was 23 for 35 without an interception. Boller’s touchdown throws to Willis McGahee and Todd Heap provided Baltimore (1-1) with a 17-3 halftime lead.
Quoteworthy: “I’ve got to give a lot of credit to my offensive line. I don’t think I got hit one time.” -- Kyle Boller, Ravens quarterback
