Red Sox send right-hander Buchholz to the minors

The Boston Red Sox optioned right-hander Clay Buchholz to triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday.
Buchholz, 24, had a 2-9 record and a 6.75 earned-run average in 16 games with the Red Sox last year
He was 4-2 with a 2.47 ERA in nine games with Pawtucket.

Joba Chamberlain, the New York Yankees’ fifth starter, said he will throw five innings or 75 pitches today in a game between triple-A Scranton/Wikes-Barre and double-A Trenton at the Yankees’ spring-training complex in Tampa, Fla.
The right-hander is scheduled to make his first start of the regular season April 12 at Kansas City.
Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman of the Washington Nationals wants negotiations for a long-term contract to end when the regular season starts. Zimmerman and the Nationals have been having talks throughout spring training.
