Cleveland upsets No. 1 Chatsworth

Top contributors: Senior right-hander John Wilson (6-0) struck out 10, walked one and scattered seven hits for Cleveland. Danny Vidales had two hits for Cleveland. Derek Neely had an RBI double for Chatsworth, and Shawn Meusborn had two hits.

The scoop: Cleveland ended a 19-game losing streak to the eight-time City Section champion Chancellors. Cleveland scored the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a throwing error. Wilson struck out Ryan Cooperstone to end the game with runners on first and third. “It’s just relief,” said Nick Kaid, who scored the winning run. “We knew we could beat them.”

Why it matters: Cleveland last defeated Chatsworth in the 2002 season. The Cavaliers took over first place in the West Valley League with the victory.
