Re: “Cookie boxes not as full,” Feb. 1:
Is there a merit badge for arithmetic? If so, perhaps Girl Scout spokeswoman Michelle Tompkins should consider studying for one.
If I paid $1 for a box of 10 Thin Mints in 2008, then my cost is 10 cents a cookie. If that same dollar buys me only nine cookies in 2009, then I’m paying 11.1 cents a cookie.
How on Earth, Michelle, is that 10% increase in cost “not raising the price?” I’m spending the same dollar, but if I’m getting less product for it, then the price has been raised.
