CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / LYNWOOD

A Lynwood High School student was injured Wednesday when he was struck by a stray round fired by an alleged gang member at a rival group near the school, sheriff’s officials said.

One of the people believed to be involved in the shooting was apprehended and other arrests are expected, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Capt. Jim J. Hellmold.

The shooting occurred when the alleged gang member pulled out a gun about 3:30 p.m. and fired toward a group of rivals gathered near the school, Hellmold said.
