CALIFORNIA BRIEFING / RIVERSIDE

A 4-year-old boy at home with his teenage brother and sister drowned in a murky backyard swimming pool Saturday, authorities said.

The boy’s 18-year-old sister called 911 just after 11 a.m. to report that her younger brother had been missing for 20 minutes, Riverside Police Sgt. Julian Hutzler said. During the call, the boy’s 16-year-old brother found him unresponsive in the brown pool water at the home on Monroe Street.

According to investigators, the boy’s parents were at work.

A neighbor drove the boy to nearby Parkview Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
