Ecuador’s government said it would expel U.S. Embassy official Mark Sullivan, who allegedly disputed the transfer of a senior police investigator. It was the second expulsion order against a U.S. Embassy official this month.
Interior Minister Gustavo Jalkh said Sullivan threatened to cut off aid to a police unit that investigates high-profile cases, including drug trafficking. A State Department spokesman denied that Sullivan had done anything wrong.
