A BRIGHT SPOT IN DARK TIMES

Sunny skies and warm temperatures provided perfect conditions Thursday for the 120th annual Rose Parade in Pasadena. The artistry and aroma of 46 flower-clad floats offered a welcome escape from dreary economic and world news for more than 700,000 parade-watchers, many of whom braved a chilly night to secure prime viewing spots.
Actress and “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Cloris Leachman was grand marshal, reflecting the pageant’s theme, “Hats Off to Entertainment.”
The spectacle went off without major incident.
