Two gunmen killed a Muslim cleric in a mosque in southern Afghanistan, an official said, and a NATO serviceman was killed elsewhere in the south.
The gunmen drove up to the mosque in Kandahar city on a motorcycle Monday night, said Zulmai Ayubi, a spokesman for provincial Gov. Tooryalai Wesa. It was the second such incident in the area in two weeks. Ayubi said it was unclear whether the attackers were Taliban members.
NATO said a service member was killed in a “hostile incident,” but it didn’t release the nationality or the location.
