Regarding Tom Petruno’s markets column, “It’s bad, but is it that bad?” Jan. 3:
It is amazing the doom and gloomers out there. I actually think the media have made this recession much worse than it would be by scaring consumers into not spending.
My suspicion is after this recession is over, folks are going to go back to pretty much the same way they have been spending money in the past. If they are habitual borrowers, then they will keep borrowing.
Housing will be different. No creative financing, which will mean that prices likely will never reach the lofty heights they were a few years ago.
