Re “Obama calls for hope in face of cold reality,”
Jan. 21
My heart was bursting with anticipation as I waited for President-elect Barack Obama to take the oath of office. I believed he would, in that moment, stimulate a unified enthusiasm that would jolt our country out of its despair.
Yet immediately after the inaugural address, my optimism was sprinkled with a large dash of realism for the plight ahead. Obama reminded us all that we need to step ahead, make necessary changes and battle together in honor of all those who have toiled before us.
