I deeply appreciated The Times’ enlightening article on Shepard Fairey (“The Poster Artist Laureate Is Picked,” Jan. 18). In my naivete, I had no idea that Obama’s annoying little “Hope” logo was painted by an artist who has lionized the likes of Che Guevara and even Lenin himself.
Can you imagine the uproar had McCain campaigned with a portrait styled in the manner of someone who had painted “obeygiant” under likenesses of Hitler or Mussolini or some hooded Klanner? God help America.
