A NIGHT FOR LIM

For the first anniversary of his Los Angeles store, Phillip Lim flew west to celebrate at the sprawling space with the spiky white walls. Hundreds of well-dressed celebrities and fashion followers joined him, with the Duke Spirit performing on an outside stage. (Frontwoman Liela Moss wore a sexy sequined top, tux blazer and micro-mini shorts -- all made by Lim, of course.)

The looks of the night: shorts and sandals for men, swingy summer dresses for girls. Some revelers mixed it up -- party host Rachel Bilson donned a rose-gold colored blazer and rolled shorts that looked like lame from afar. Musician Devendra Banhart wore a French cuff shirt, pink bow tie and bright pink oxfords, along with his twist on shorts: oatmeal-colored sweat pants scrunched up to the knee.

The guys who didn’t dare to bare their legs sported skinny suits and ties, and Lim himself wore simple slouchy trousers and a tame gray blazer. But it was his black and gold spiked loafers that stole the show. The shoes, a collaboration between him and Christian Louboutin (who makes the shoes for Lim’s runway show), will be out for fall.

Later that night, the designer (and Orange County native) hosted a dinner across the street at Cecconi’s, toasting the table with a “West Coast, represent!” And judging by the stylish masses partying throughout his Robertson Boulevard store, it did.
