Evan Rachel Wood and Alan Cumming have been cast in the Broadway musical “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.” The production, which features music by Bono and the Edge and will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor (“The Lion King”), is set to begin previews Feb. 25 at the Hilton Theatre.
Wood is slated to play Mary Jane Watson, the love interest of hero Peter Parker, while Cumming will play Spider-man’s nemesis, Norm Osborn, better known as the Green Goblin. No word on who will play Parker/Spider-man.
Wood and Cumming have worked with Taymor. Wood starred in the Taymor-directed movie “Across the Universe,” and Cumming acted in her film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Titus Andronicus.” The Scottish actor recently completed filming Taymor’s upcoming film, “The Tempest.”
