The $99 deal: The Nines hotel in downtown Portland, Ore.

Downtown Portland, Ore., has a new luxe hotel. It’s called the Nines and it’s part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection. The Nines is on the upper floors of the historic Meier & Frank department store building, with Macy’s on the lower level. No car? No problem. You can take the Max Light Rail to Pioneer Square from the airport for $2.30 (40 minutes). Once downtown, the Max and streetcar are free.
Deal: The base room, called the Superior room, is offered starting at $99 a night for the first 99 nights the hotel is open (until April 18). Use promo code 99Nines. Shopping and dining tip: Step away from Pioneer Square and take a streetcar to the Pearl District, known for its art galleries, trendy boutiques and restaurants.
