In case you had any doubt, the Disney Channel confirmed Tuesday that there would be a “High School Musical 4,” this time featuring a “Romeo & Juliet” spin with a new cast.
The original stars long ago said the third movie would be their last, but Disney executives said they had hired Peter Barsocchini, the writer of the first three productions of what has turned into a global franchise, to return to fashion a story around “a classic love triangle” set against a new generation of East High Wildcats and their crosstown rivals, the West High Knights.
Production on “HSM4” will begin later this year with a premiere on the Disney Channel in 2010.
