I hope that Tavis Smiley’s exhibit [“Telling the Story Across the Nation,” Oct. 25] has more to say about the contributions of African Americans than sports and music, as the article suggests. The Door of No Return from Ghana clearly is compelling. It would be for a Jew the equivalent of standing at the door to the crematoria in Auschwitz.
But what about the literature or the inventions? I hope to see the exhibit and see for myself, and I hope I am not disappointed.
