at No. 3 Texas 89, UC Irvine 42: Damion James had 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Longhorns to a season-opening victory. Zack Atkinson scored 10 points to lead the Anteaters (1-1).
at Montana 64, Loyola Marymount 63: Anthony Johnson scored 22 points and the Grizzlies (3-0) escaped with a victory in the final game of the Grizzly Tournament. Drew Viney made a three-point shot with seven seconds left to pull the Lions (1-2) to within 64-63. Montana then turned the ball over, but the Lions could not score.
at Stanford 70, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 53: Landry Fields scored 22 points as the Cardinal (1-1) won its home opener. Lorenzo Keeler scored 15 points for the Mustangs (0-2).
at USC 68, Fresno State 63 (women): The Trojans (1-1) got their first win under new Coach Michael Cooper.
