Los Angeles could have had an NFL team here years ago. The Coliseum has been available. But team owners insist on uber-luxury stadiums [Sept. 25]. So it’s really not about the pseudo-sacred “game” -- it’s all about the money that can be squeezed from corporate fans for the luxury boxes.

And if any number of teams are ready to desert the cities they already play in, why would they have any more or less loyalty to L.A. if they moved here? In fact, except for Green Bay or Dallas, one can say that given the right circumstances any team will move at any time if the price is right. As far as the NFL goes, “team loyalty” is a one-way street.

L.A. is better off without an NFL team. Instead of cheerleading, I think a responsible journalist should bring up some of those points every now and then -- just for the sake of fairness.
