at Tampa Bay 5, New York 3: Dioner Navarro hit a two-run home run and rookie Jeff Niemann (13-6) gave up two runs and six hits in five innings to win for the first time in more than a month.

at Seattle 2, Texas 1: Ken Griffey Jr. hit his 630th home run and Ichiro Suzuki had three hits to help lift the Mariners. Griffey opened the fourth inning with a line shot over the right-field wall, his 19th this season. He has three home runs in his last four games.

at Baltimore 6, Toronto 3: Mark Hendrickson (6-5) won his first start since April to help assure the Orioles of avoiding their third 100-loss season. Earlier, Toronto fired J.P. Ricciardi as general manager and promoted 32-year-old assistant Alex Anthopoulos.
