My wife and I flew from LAX to Baltimore and back. We paid to check two bags and had a third that was small enough to be a “rollaboard.”
At the terminal an agent announced that the flight was full and that it might be difficult to fit everyone’s carry-ons into the overhead compartments. He said United would take anyone’s bag and store it at no charge. I figured, we’ve already got two bags in the cargo, why not the third? We took out a few essentials and gave him the rollaboard.
The next time we fly, we’ll pack more carefully and get it down to two bags, one the rollaboard, and save the $15 checked-bag fee.
