If traditional filmmaking is akin to a marathon, the 48 Hour Film Project is a sprint. Teams of intrepid movie makers will each be assigned a character, prop, line of dialogue and genre, all of which must be incorporated into a finished film within two days. Films are due Sunday at 7:30 p.m.; they will be screened Aug. 24-26 at the Laemmle Monica 4-Plex in Santa Monica. Cinespace, 6356 Hollywood Blvd., L.A. 6-7 p.m. Fri. $155 registration fee. https://www.48hourfilm.com.
