AKC/Eukanuba National Championship From pointers to Pomeranians, the prides of the purebreds will be on display at this year’s championship. And although best in show won’t be announced until Sunday night, the more than 2,500 dogs vying for the coveted title will be looking their best and be on their best behavior in preparation for the weekend’s judging. John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension The acclaimed guitarist, whose career has spanned four decades, is best known for his jazz-fusion work with Miles Davis and the East Indian-influenced Mahavishnu Orchestra. His adventurous musical experimentalism continues with his latest creative endeavor with the 4th Dimension, which boasts multi-instrumentalist Gary Husband on drums and keyboards, Jeff Beck drummer Mark Mondesir and young Cameroonian bassist Etienne Mbappé. Tisa Bryant and Susan Straight The two local authors will read from and discuss their work as part of the Hammer’s New American Writing series.
