Available aid at high school football games varies by campus

Over the course of three days on a typical weekend of high school football in September, Los Angeles Times reporters spread out over a four-county area to watch 13 games between schools representing a variety of regions and demographics. In most cases, the home team was responsible for providing medical care. Here’s a look at the aid available at each of the matchups:
Thursday, Sept. 23
San Jacinto Noli Indian vs. Torrance Pacific Lutheran at Daniels Field, San Pedro
Noli Indian: Paramedic. Pacific Lutheran: None.
Compton Centennial at Los Angeles Douglass
Centennial: Certified athletic trainer. Douglass: Nurse practitioner.
Buena Park at Garden Grove Bolsa Grande
Buena Park: Certified athletic trainer. Bolsa Grande: Emergency Medical Technician, ambulance.
Pomona Diamond Ranch at Ontario Chaffey
Diamond Ranch: Certified athletic trainer, college student assistant. Chaffey: Physician, three medical students, uncertified athletic trainer, ambulance.
Santa Monica vs. Villa Park at Orange El Modena
Santa Monica: Certified athletic trainer. Villa Park: Orthopedic specialist, certified athletic trainer, four high school student assistants.
Friday, Sept. 24
Eagle Rock at Bell
Eagle Rock: None. Bell: Certified athletic trainer.
Cleveland at Arleta
Cleveland: None. Arleta: Orthopedic surgeon, certified athletic trainer.
Los Angeles Amino Leadership at Lucerne Valley
Amino Leadership: None. Lucerne Valley: None, but ambulance parked at the field.
Los Angeles Garfield at Santa Fe Springs St. Paul
Garfield: Orthopedic surgeon, uncertified trainer. St. Paul: Physician, three chiropractic residents as trainers.
Sylmar at North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake
Sylmar: None. Harvard-Westlake: Orthopedic surgeon, four certified athletic trainers.
Anaheim Servite vs. Huntington Beach Edison at Cerritos College
Servite: Orthopedic specialist, certified athletic trainer, assistant trainer, two college student assistants, three high school student assistants. Edison: Orthopedic surgeon, certified athletic trainer, college student assistant, four high school student assistants.
Saturday, Sept. 25
Lee Vining vs. La Verne Calvary Baptist at La Verne Damien
Lee Vining: None. Calvary Baptist: Certified trainer, Emergency Medical Technician.
Los Angeles Verbum Dei vs. Pasadena Blair at Pasadena Muir
Verbum Dei: Nurse, certified athletic trainer. Blair: Orthopedic surgeon.
