It’s official.
The Clippers earned a playoff berth following Houston’s loss to Denver on Monday evening and will make their first postseason appearance since the 2005-06 season.
But before any celebrations can occur, they have to get through Oklahoma City, the top team in the Western Conference.
The Clippers trail the Thunder, 52-43, at halftime in the team’s fourth and final regular-season game. The Clippers currently have a 2-1 lead in the series.
The Clippers trailed by as many as 11 points at the top of the second quarter. They reduced the deficit to four points at 37-33 with less than six minutes remaining in the half but the Thunder quickly regained control.
The Thunder are outshooting the Clippers, 43.9% to 37.2%.
Kevin Durant leads all scorers with 19 points on six-for-t10 shooting. Russell Westbrook has nine points, all of which he scored in the first quarter.
Blake Griffin is currently the Clippers’ top scorer. He has 10 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots. Nick Young has given the team a big boost from the bench with nine points on three-for-five shooting, including two for two from the three-point line.
It took Griffin less than two minutes to make his first highlight reel clip of the game. He shot an off-balance over the shoulder layup while facing his team’s bench and it banked into the hoop.
