DESTINATION: Antarctica
We had wanted to visit the ultimate continent, Antarctica, for years. The best period is during the Antarctic high summer, so this trip could only be realized after my retirement.
After having crossed the Antarctic circle, we went several times on land to behold, amongst others, a variety of penguins and sea lions. But to me, the most enigmatic objects were the icebergs that floated by when on sea. This picture shows my wife, Patricia, with a tabular iceberg in the background. It has a hole in its middle as if the invitation stands to sail in and see its internal makeup..... (Submission by Marcel van Baal)
