Former Angels southpaw Chuck Finley sells equestrian estate in O.C.

Chuck Finley, the retired baseball pitcher who played 14 seasons for the California/Anaheim Angels, has sold his equestrian estate in San Juan Capistrano for $3.55 million.

The home, built in French Country-style in 2006, features a large riding arena with jumps, a two-stall stable, a tack room and wash area on nearly 1 acre in the affluent community.

Clad in walnut flooring, the 5,000 square feet of living space includes a country kitchen, a formal dining room, a living room, four bedrooms, four full bathrooms and four fireplaces.

Through double French doors, the living room opens onto landscaped grounds that include a large patio, a pool, a barbecue area and an outdoor fireplace. Views of the hillside and surrounding cityscape complete the park-like setting.

The 51-year-old had previously offered the home for rent, most recently in early 2012 for $9,000 a month. Public records show that he paid $4.15 million for the estate in January 2006.

The skilled left-hander won 200 games across 18 seasons with the Angels, Indians and Cardinals, making five All-Star teams. He was inducted into the Halos’ Hall of Fame in 2009.
