Hot Property: Diamondbacks exec Tony La Russa buys Danville home

Tony La Russa made a deal to return to baseball in May when he agreed to join the Arizona Diamondbacks front office. However, earlier in the year, the former manager was making another sort of deal: buying a house in Danville, Calif., for $1.233 million.
Sited on a quarter-acre near the foothills of Mount Diablo, the home, built in 1977, features a two-story floor plan with bamboo flooring, crown molding and tile accents. The nearly 3,100 square feet of living space includes an updated kitchen, raised dining room, a family room with a wet bar, four bedrooms and three full bathrooms.
Through sliding glass doors found off of the dining room, interiors open onto a generous cedar deck with a slatted cover that overlooks the backyard.
La Russa, 69, managed the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals over 33 major league seasons, winning three World Series championships (1989, 2006 and 2011). He oversees the operations department for the Diamondbacks as the organization’s chief baseball officer.
The home originally came to market in December for $1.279. Patrick Lane of RE/MAX Accord was the listing agent. Liz Hughes of Legacy Real Estate & Associates represented La Russa in the sale.
