Reginald Hudlin lists Beverly Hills home at $4,995,000

Reginald Hudlin, a pioneer of the modern black film movement, has listed his Beverly Hills home for sale at $4,995,000.

The home, described in the Multiple Listing Service as a “tranquil retreat,” has five bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms in 4,480 square feet. The living and dining rooms share a double-sided glass-tiled fireplace, and the granite-floored public rooms have walls of glass overlooking the pool and grounds. There is an eat-in kitchen done up to the nines. The master suite has a fireplace and covered terrace.

Hudlin was the first president of entertainment for Black Entertainment Television. Some of his hit shows for BET include “American Gangster” and “Somebodies.” He also created “House Party” (1990) and 1992’s “Bébé’s Kids” -- called the first African American animated feature film. He directed “Boomerang”(1992), starring Eddie Murphy, and “The Bernie Mac Show” from 2002 to ’05 and directed the 2005 pilot of “ Everybody Hates Chris.” He executive produced the animated series “The Boondocks” from 2005 to ’08 and was the writer behind “The Black Panther” superhero comic books. In 2002, he directed “Serving Sara,” a comedy starring Matthew Perry and Elizabeth Hurley.
