Facebook app gets Retina update for iPad

That Retina display on the new iPad is both a blessing and a curse. Sure, it offers superior color accuracy and clarity of detail. But it really does make bad photos look just a little bit worse. Does the update of the Facebook iPad app make the photos there look any better?
Sort of.
The high-resolution photos and HD videos sparkle. The rest, well, they’re as bad as they ever were. Blame the photographer.
In the 4.1.1 update, the user interface has become sharper. Maybe that’ll distract you from the fuzziness of your mobile photos.
Facebook also corrects some residual quirks of the earlier version. Among them, now, the proper profile pictures display, friends lists always include all of your friends, your name displays correctly in sets of photos and the friend-request notification lights up only when you actually have a request.
New features include being able to take a chat off-line. And for those multilingual users, you can change your language to Czech, Danish, Greek, Indonesian, Malay, Norwegian (Bokmal), Portuguese or Thai.
For the size-conscious, the update weighs in at 10.5 megabytes.
With all the distraction of the display-adjusted images, did you notice there’s still no Timeline on Facebook for iPad? Also missing in this update is the ability to “like” comments on photos.
Ooh, dislike!
