More evidence of 4-inch iPhone: iOS 6 adapts to larger resolution

IOS 6 can run a fifth row of app icons at a larger resolution than that of the current iPhone, a recent test showed, and that could be more evidence that a larger iPhone is on its way.
Currently, iOS 5 runs at 640 by 960 pixels on the iPhone 4S, but the test ran iOS 6 at 640 by 1,136 pixels -- and it worked.
At that size, iOS 6 adapted perfectly and added a fifth row of app icons. It’s predecessor, on the other hand, only stretches out its four rows of apps when run at that resolution.
The test was run by 9 to 5 Mac, which said it tweaked the iOS Simulator application, which is a program used by developers to test iOS apps.
“This proves that the upcoming release of iOS 6, which will obviously come pre-loaded on the new iPhone, is well-aware of taller iPhone displays,” 9 to 5 Mac said. “It scales perfectly to the taller resolution.”
That resolution size is one 9 to 5 Mac and others have reported would fit the description of a taller, 4-inch screen on the next iPhone.
Adding further evidence that the change could be coming is the fact that iOS 6 only adapts and adds another row at that resolution size. At other resolution sizes, iOS 6 instead switches to an iPad-like home screen.
This isn’t definitive evidence, but the evidence sure is stacking up.
