Two people were struck by gunfire in a shooting outside Knott’s Berry Farm on Friday night.
Police were notified of shots fired at Knott’s Berry Farm about 8:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Mario Escamilla of the Buena Park Police Department. A preliminary investigation indicates that a drive-by shooting occurred on Beach Boulevard and La Palma Avenue, he said.
The Orange County Fire Authority took one gunshot victim, a teenage boy, to the hospital. Officials later learned that a second gunshot victim, another teenage boy, had taken himself or was driven to a hospital to be treated.
Escamilla said detectives are looking for leads about the suspect and don’t have a vehicle description.
The theme park said in a statement that park personnel had assisted a victim outside of the park’s gates.
Television news coverage showed a fire truck and ambulance at the scene and police blocking traffic.
Beach Boulevard was closed between Crescent Avenue and the 91 Freeway, according to California Highway Patrol spokesperson Mayra Delgado.
