Cinemax picks up Robert Kirkman’s ‘Outcast’ for 10-episode series

Comic king Robert Kirkman is back and Cinemax has got him.

Kirkman, the driving force behind the comic series that inspired AMC’s zombie smash “The Walking Dead,” has won a 10-episode order from Cinemax for “Outcast,” a horror comic he co-created with Paul Azaceta.

“Outcast” will star Patrick Fugit - who played the kid journalist in Cameron Crowe’s movie “Almost Famous” - as Kyle, a man plagued by demonic possession who stumbles across nasty secrets in his journey to find answers to his affliction.

Kirkman will write the first episode and serve as executive producer. David Alpert, who also worked on “The Walking Dead,” will join the creative team as well.

Cinemax’s current original series lineup includes “The Knick,” a period drama from director Steven Soderbergh, and the crime drama “Banshee.”
