‘Book of Mormon’ menu; Filipino festival; beer dinner

‘Book of Mormon’ dinner special: In honor of the L.A. debut of “The Book of Mormon,” Wood & Vine, located across the street from the Pantages Theatre, has created a special menu for theatergoers. The prix-fixe menu includes a cheese and charcuterie plate; choice of market or beet salad; choice of fried chicken and waffle or potato gnocchi; and choice of pot de crème or cream puff. The Respect Your Elder-flower cocktail (with kumquat, gin, elderflower, lemon and Champagne) and the Latter-Day Night Fever cocktail (with passion fruit, Oronoco rum and lime) will be $8 with a valid ticket stub. Filipino arts and culture festival: The annual Festival of Philippine Arts & Culture on Saturday and Sunday kicks off with a fundraiser Thursday night at Isla Cocina Pilipina in Eagle Rock. Guests will receive food, nonalcoholic drinks and a sneak preview of recipes from “The Adobo Road Cookbook” by Marvin Gapultos, who also blogs at Burnt Lumpia. 6:30 to 10 p.m. $55 for general admission. $100 includes two tickets for the weekend festival and a commemorative T-shirt. $250 includes four tickets for the festival, two T-shirts, VIP parking and an advance copy of Gapultos’ cookbook. 4420 Eagle Rock Blvd., Eagle Rock. www.fpac2012kickoff.eventbrite.com.
Dinner about beer: Brewmaster Dave Larsen of Haven Gastropub + Brewery in Old Pasadena will start kicking off each month with a special menu -- including whole-roasted Mary’s chicken with Dave’s secret marinade, garlic mashed potatoes and roasted seasonal vegetables -- and a Q&A; about beers and brewing.
