Author Dan Baum: In the Arts & Books section elsewhere in this edition, an article about author Dan Baum, a gun-rights supporter, says that the AR in AR-15 stands for Assault Rifle. The initials derive from the company ArmaLite, which designed the AR-15 in the 1950s. The error was detected after the section went to press.
