Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Anza

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Saturday evening 11 miles from Anza, California, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:56 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 5.0 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 14 miles from La Quinta, California, 16 miles from Palm Desert, California, 16 miles from Rancho Mirage, California and 253 miles from Phoenix, Arizona.
In the past ten days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
